Sengol Controversy: Was it the ‘Commemoration of Civilizational Renaissance’ or the Inauguration of the new building of India’s Parliament?

Where was the iconic Sengol for 75 years and why was this ritual consigned to oblivion for decades?

Inauguration of the new building of Parliament in Delhi on 28th May, by Prime Minister Narendera Modi, flagrantly invoking ‘Sengol’, the ceremony sounded more like ‘the Commemoration of Civilizational Renaissance’.

PM installs ‘Sengol’ at new Parliament building, in New Delhi on May 28, 2023.

One wonders how the installation of Sengol was relevant to the inauguration of the new building of the Indian Parliament.

It would have been more appropriate and above controversy, if a copy of the Indian Constitution would have been ceremoniously placed there in a splendid manner, in recognition of the successful conduct of the Parliamentary Democracy, under the Constitutional supremacy, since Independence.

Parliament building is meant for parliamentary debates or enacting new legislations for the Governance of India in a rightest manner, but it’s certainly not a place for ritualistic mavericks or for the display of chauvinistic fantasies by the revered Seers of the ancient Mutts, from Tamil Nadu.

Prime Minister Narendera Modi is to be blamed for unnecessarily orchestrating opera of rituals for his own whims and fancies, over and above the dignity of the Constitution.

Sakshi Malik, an Indian wrestler who won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics, is detained by the police during a protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

In horrific contrast on this historic day, when an awkward attempt was being paradoxically made to revive civilizational rituals at the site of the new Building of the Parliament a few hundred yards away the ancient civilizational values were being disgracefully trampled by the Delhi Police, by unleashing plethora of brutalities against the women wrestlers of India.

Civilizational values cannot be reinvented or revived in its true spirit, without the Government of the day itself being ‘Civil’ to the core.

The Sengol is actually the ‘Nandi Dhwaja’.

The mythological elucidation of Sengol was depicted explaining that Sengol used to symbolize the ‘transfer of power’ during ancient times, but in the modern era of constitutional democracy, Sengol certainly has no significance or relevance in the Constitutional framework of India or defining the Parliamentary Democracy, ever since 26th January 1950 when Secular Democratic India got its own constitution.

Where was the iconic Sengol for 75 years and why was this ritual consigned to oblivion for decades?

And ironically enough; where was the occasion for transfer of Power on 28th of May 2023, when only the new building was being inaugurated.

Who transferred power and to whom; remains a question of ridiculous myth? Why the superstitious display of rituals was carried out on the historic day under who’s specific order and who approved all these nonconformist eccentrics and why?

PM addressing at the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House.

Does PM Modi treat the entire Indian population as one of his ‘captive seminaries’ where he could teach any damn farcicality which may be regressively retrograde, in utter disregard of the scientific research and much upgraded scientific knowledge and temperaments of the highly knowledgeable generations of India?

Only the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India could ask the government of India to explain the amazing oxymoron and absurdities embedded with ritualistic eccentricities displayed on the historic day, by none other than the Prime Minister of India, despicably taking the entire India for a ride.

Let the Religion and Ritual stay confined to the Temples and the Mutts and Let the Parliament function independent of the influence of religiosity, under the Secular constitution of India and let the rules of the business, brilliantly articulated by constitutional experts for the lawful conduct of the Parliament, prevails in all matters of Practice and procedures of the Parliament. punjab
