Mr. Chief Minister, when robbers deceptively assume the role of noblemen then nobility loses its discernible features and expressions.

What a travesty of times in Punjab, when the whole world grapples with the asymptomatic cases of the Covid-19, the people of Punjab are struggling to decode the deceitful skin texture of the asymptomatic nobility, sitting at the helms of the affairs of the State.

When robbers in the garb of noblemen, start bolstering the evil-doers and their illicit operations, then who will give asylum to the public, and most particularly to those who are dependent on the rule of law?

This kind of disgusting state of mind is bothering my soul for quite some time. When there is complete collapse of lawful Governance and the lofty institutions of justice begin showing symptoms of expired morality and the legislative citadels fall short of the audacity and insight to question the unlawful activities of reprobates.

And when the men in Khaki uniform, quite callously become friendly with thieves and highway robbers. Then in a democracy, what public is expected to do in such a suffocating and counterclockwise conditions, where even to commit suicide is not a legally tenable option?

I hope the Chief Minister is very well aware that an illegal liquor distillery was busted 0n 14th May 2020 in Ghanaur, District Patiala.

A congress Sarpanch and a close aide of Congress MLA were booked in the case. It was also revealed by the police and the excise department that the illegal distillery-cum- liquor-bottling plant was making huge money during the Curfew and lockdown by selling illicit liquor under the guise of popular brands.

The accused were operating the distillery from a cold store and were making liquor by diluting extra neutral alcohol (ENA) which is available on cheap price in the market and selling it on exorbitant rates.

The news reports prominently appearing in the media suggests that Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, is conducting the probe under the Prevention of Money laundering Act (PMLA).

It is also reported that the Police department is reluctant to share the case file with Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials who may be under the instruction of the Chief Minister’s office.

It is clear that any delay in conducting the transparent probe would only help the accused persons.

Since the police Department and the Excise Department, both are under the direct control of the Chief Minister, it is being construed that the Chief Minister is trying to shield a congress MLA, allegedly involved in the Ghanaur illegal distillery case, which is why the police is not cooperating with the ED probe.

Any further delay in handing over the case file to the Deputy Director of the ED would reflect upon the probity of the Chief Minister for working against the interest of the law and also by stonewalling the process of ED probe into a very serious matter.
